Course description
ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is a generic term used to describe a class of large information systems that aim to coordinate the main operational functions of commercial firms, but increasingly also of other organizations, including universities, through integrating transaction and master data in a single database.
These systems are therefore large and very complex. Their implementation in an organization is usually a multi-year effort, involving large financial and person-power commitments. Using an open-source ERP package – AvERP – this course will introduce students to the main functions, architecture, and administration of such systems.
Learning objectives
Students will have acquired a basic but solid and comprehensive understanding of the structure, operations, and administrative requirements of ERP systems. Successful participation in this course is also a mandatory requirement for participation in the master course ‘Management of ERP and Inter-organizational Information Systems’.
